Dr Narayanan AL is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Cardiology with nearly 40 years of experience in interventional cardiology. This alumnus of Stanley Medical College and Madras Medical College has special interest in and specialises in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Device Therapy and End Stage Heart Failure Management. He also has nearly 20 years of experience teaching DNB Cardiology Fellows.

A dedicated team of cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac anaesthesiologists and intensivists, cardiac rehabilitation specialists and trained nurses, the primary goal of the Department of Cardiac Sciences is to deliver comprehensive cardiac care at the heart of the city.

A Senior Consultant in our Department of Cardiology is Dr Madan Mohan B, a renowned interventional cardiologist with over 20 years of experience. This Madras Medical College alumnus specialises in performing interventional cardiology procedures such as primary and elective Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCIs). With a special interest in the Heart Failure Programme, he has trained in using the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) as destination therapy.

A Senior Consultant and the Clinical Lead of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr Kailash A Jain is a well-known cardiothoracic surgeon with over 15 years of experience. A graduate from Sri Ramachandra Medical College, he specialises in off-pump (beating heart) Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery and Valve Repair and Replacement Surgery as well as in Redo-CABG and Redo-Valve Surgery. He has notable interest in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery.

He specialises in advanced interventional cardiology and he is skilled in performing high risk complex angioplasties such as Bifurcation Stenting, Left Main Stenting, Intra Vascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Pressure Wire Studies (FFR – Fractional Flow Reserve) and Vein Graft Stenting. He also performs other invasive procedures like permanent pacemaker implantation. He has a special interest in monitoring of ambulatory BP and external loop recorder in heart failure patients at high risk for recurrent admissions.

Dr Vivekan Manoharan, an Interventional Cardiologist in the Department of Cardiology, comes with wide clinical experience. This Kilpauk Medical College alumnus specialises in clinical cardiology, preventive cardiology (hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol and lipid disorders), coronary interventions, and heart failure and device therapies, as well as compassion, holistic care and commitment to his patients’ rights.

He underwent specialized Interventional cardiology Fellowship course in prestigious Madras Medical Mission, Chennai and advanced training in Inselspital Bern university Hospital,Switzerland.He specialized to perform complex coronary intervention like Left main and bifurcation stenting with IVUS and OCT guidance. He is interested to perform the intervention in CHIP cases with mechanical circulatory support devices. He also specialized to perform IVC filter implantation, Dual chamber pacemaker and ICD implantation.

Dr Muthusamy Rangasamy is a Senior Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist in the Department of Cardiology. This Madras Medical College alumnus has expertise in performing procedures like angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker implantations, device implantation and the management of heart attacks, heart failure, valvular heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmias and preventive cardiology.

Dr Ghayoor Ahmed is an Associate Consultant in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The Kasturba Medical College alumnus specialises in adult cardiac surgery with a special interest in minimally invasive coronary and heart valve surgeries, and thoracic surgeries.
